Great place for concerts, esp local bands as well as small indie acts. It's down to earth, prices are ok and there's a great musica act to discover almost every night of the week. Also a good place for watching football - also outside during bigger football events with several screens.

We got an Austrian beer and a Bulmer's cider from here one evening and sat outside in the large covered seating area. It was a good place to have chat, as it wasn't too noisy. They have two televisions outside, which show the news and local programmes (in German), as well as the football. We got there at about 7pm... More

We only went in and almost as soon came out, the music was way too loud to be able to chat with friends. Very smoky also. Clientele was a bit on the young side, even though I could spot a couple of older people as well. I would have liked this place 20 years ago... :)

Great alternative place with "my music" (rock, indie etc.). Not for poshy liking individuals. Will come back as soon as I can.

Staying in Ottakring

Neighbourhood Profile
Ottakring
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).
