Went for both architecture and art. The place is superb, amazing ceilings and small details. The art collection beautiful. Collections are a bit strangely organized and not structured pretty well. Gardens should be wonderful during warmer times. Visited only the upper one as reception discouraged...More

The museum has a large collection of Klimt works mostly dating from before his famous large gold panels such as The Kiss, etc. The gardens must be beautiful in the summer, not so much in December.

Spent a day doing the galleries and garden, such as it is on a winter's day. It needs a return visit. Enjoyed the 20th century art exhibition in the lower gallery. Then off to see The Kiss. But it's so familiar from the posters, it's...More

This Palace is absolutely stunning inside and out. Compared to other attractions in Vienna, it's a bit out of the way, but it is definitely worth the extra effort. The outside is absolutely stunning with its baroque architecture and gardens. The interior, comparatively, is just...More

Sunday in Austria is the best day to visit museums instead of shopping malls. No trees and blooming flowers before April. Make sure you have your warm clothes and gear in place.

Pity they don't share the story of the famous Klimt's Adel, one of the "blood paintings" that was stolen by the Nazis and exhibited in the Belvedere till it's return to it's owner. . See the movie "Woman in Gold"

Beautiful setting for lower and upper Belvedere palaces. Lots of paths and gardens to walk through and although dull in winter there are lots of sculptures dotted around which are attractions in their own right. The upper palace/ gallery is the home of The Kiss...More

It is an art gallery within a palace. Upper and lower are 2 separate palaces with different art collections. We only visited upper belvedere as it looked the most interesting for us.

We did not take the guided tour as we visited Belevedere for the art. The building has an interesting history so a tour may enhance your visit but the rooms are now galleries full of works of art. The Schornbrunn is, in my... More
