This is not a major exciting ride but it is nostalgic. The Ferris wheel is over a hundred years old, memories of 'The Third Man' and not many fairground attractions are this old and still working. Besides this the views are great on a clear...More

We decided to make a ride with the Riesenrad to have a view over Vienna. The entry fee is € 10,00. At the beginning there is a small "exhibition" about the history of Vienna and then you can enter the Riesenrad. The Riesenrad moves very...More

When visiting a city there are certain key points of interest that have become familiar even before arriving. The ferris wheel is one of them. Either it's your thing or it isn't but it is an historic vienna icon. The cost isn't prohibitive and you...More

We were excited to take a ride to get a bird’s eye view of Vienna. After we bought tickets, we waited in a que line to ride for a bit and then got on with way too many people. The gondolas are large, but they...More

A good way to spend half an hour. The carriages have plenty of room and there are excellent views of the skyline as the wheel doesn't move too quickly. The attraction has been well maintained considering its age and the little museum is also worth...More

What. A. Waste. Went one loop at night. They left the lights on in the car which meant you could pretty much just see your reflection. No music even. Paid 30 euros ( including cab) for NOTHING

Bucket list experience with super views across Vienna and to the mountains beyond. This ferris wheel is different from the norm as it is old and you ride in the traditional wooden cars which resemble railway carriages. Able to walk around inside and see the...More

Visited the Prater area to ride on the Riesenrad ............ an enjoyable but short experience. The carriages and wheel are well maintained and it gives you a great view of the city skyline when you reach the summit. Recognising the history and age of this...More

Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The
second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from
medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from
pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current
hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative
crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and
take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old

Once the sun goes down what you see in the short distance from the Riesenrad is mostly the lights of the fun fair around the wheel. Beyond the city is well lit. But I wouldn't say it's the most spectacular view night or day.
