This is an expensive package so expectations are high. We got off to a bad start because we couldn't easily find the Orangerie ticket office. We were in a hurry to meet the deadline for the palace tour and the weather was appalling - much rushing around like headless chickens and absolutely none of the staff we encountered in the... More

Just returned from an evening at the Orangery with my family. A very good concert affected on a personal level by a VIP guest in my line of sight in the middle of the front row recording up to ten minutes on her mobile phone during the first half before being stopped and then another VIP guest in my line... My wife and I decided to book the evening meal with concert at the palace through our hotel reception. A good idea because we paid the hotel and took the receipt to the orangerie where our tickets were waiting for us. To serve about 100 people a three course meal in one hour plus drinks takes some organisation. The attendants... More

Wanted to hear a concert while I'm Vienna. Did not want to sit for hours or spend a ton of money. This concert fit the bill. It was 1hr45min with a 15 minute intermission. Music was lively, with two opera singers and two ballet dancers. The show kept your interest. No pictures are allowed once the concert begins.

A truly uplifting concert involving the orchestra, opera and dance. The musicians played beautifully and we all found ourselves smiling at the gentle humour of certain pieces. Can't recommend it enough. We had the dinner beforehand which was in a lovely restaurant within the palace grounds. The food was delicious with good service .

We attended a very enthusiastic and fun performance! I highly recommend attending a concert here-for both Mozart/Strauss fans and non-fans.

Definitely one of the things that is a must to do in Vienna is to attend a musical concert! This one is held in the orangery Hall of Schoenbrunn. The music and the opera were fantastic and the dancing was lovely. I totally recommend going there.

The concert was lovely. Very entertaining. Kids were engaged in the performance! We skipped second half because our kids were already way past bedtime. U Baum is right across street, made for quick exit.

We had a wonderful time at the concert, the average rating would be attributed to: 1) the ticket collection- dinner - concert logistics is not desirable (we had to walk back and forth) 2) the dinner was really not enjoyable (I understand the dinner has to cater to an international taste but the food tasted cafeteria-like) 3) we really should... Vienna is the city of music. Then you didn't visit Vienna if you didn't experience it's music. Program of indescribable orchestra and talented Opera Singers and Ballerinas.

Staying in Hietzing

Neighbourhood Profile
Hietzing
Vienna’s 13th district has always been in the shadow of Schönbrunn Palace and its gardens, but has interesting hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Allow half a day for the imposing Habsburg residence and the gardens with Gloriette belvedere. Reserve the other half to discover the secret charms of this posh residential neighbourhood. Sneak out of the gardens at Hietzinger Tor (Hietzing Gate) and head down Hietzinger Hauptstrasse for Kaiserpavillon (Emperor’s pavilion), an Art Nouveau gem right on top of U4’s metro railtracks. At local institutions Café Dommayer and restaurant Plachutta you can mingle with residents, their families and friends. Dommayer has risen to fame since waltz king Johann Strauss and his orchestra performed there regularly. If you want to go beyond private villa gazing visit Klimtvilla and Hermesvilla. Art Nouveau genius Gustav Klimt had his last studio in a now beautifully renovated villa, which is open during spring and summer. Hermesvilla at Lainzer Tiergarten animal enclosure and nature park is a must for all romantics and fans of Empress Sissi.
