Spittelau waste incineration and district heating plant by Friedensreich Hundertwasser is a beautiful example of expressionist architecture! An organic, eclectic and colourful industrial plant that is also a flamboyant piece of art! Don't miss this icon of the Vienna skyline

Plan your walk around Vienna so you get to see this cheerful heating plant. There is noting except the plant ther, but the Danube canal is near, so you can have a nice walk near the water afterwards.

Didn't go on a tour, but just seeing the outside is worth the trip to this fascinating facility. Travel there easily by train or tram from the city.

Special building in an industrial environment in the outskirt area of Vienna. It is worth a visit at the cross of U4 and U6.

if you change the outside of a horrible building it stays a horrible building, even if the new outside is designed by an artist like Friedensreich Hundertwasser

We passed this on a boat tour from the Danube to Schwedenplatz and found it was the local district heating plant designed by Austria's favorite kitsch-artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Never seen anything so outlandish for such a building, but it actually works so well. Have worked...More

To me, the building seemed more remarkable than the Hundertwasserhaus from the same architect, because of the geometric structure. We had a Vienna pass for the subway, and it's right next to the subway station Spittelau, so it was worth paying a visit. Nice to...More
