We visited this to attend a local Jewish festival that was free. There was crazy tight security but it made me feel safe. We couldn't go through the building, just the outside and main courtyard which were beautiful. There is a nice park right beside it that is a good place to eat a picnic lunch. Enjoy!

Stunning building. There was a food festival on when we visited with lots of food, beer and wine sellers with lots of seats to sit and enjoy the views.

One of the best city halls you can see. Fancy, old and beautiful structure it is. Worth seeing while having a city tour in Vienna.

In Vienna, even the Town Hall is stunning! Passed by at dusk (please see photo). Its on a busy street but don't let that put you off. The Rathaus is within easy walking distance of the palaces.

The vast building of the Rathaus or city hall can be seen from afar and is well worth exploring at close quarters. It has a vast main building with five towers rising from this, including huge central tower that dominates the skyline. It is in Gothic style, very much in keeping with the city as a whole. It is beautifully... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
