Christmas shop was disappointing but the town is charming. Be sure to visit the shop that custom makes the Norwegian folk costumes (just off the town square).

Charming village full of history , from Einstein staying & sitting on a bench to watch the Northern Lights to Start of World War 2 in Norway ( strategic point) . To Christmas & Christmas shop full of shiny ornaments.

We took a boat trip from Oslo (just over an hour) in the hope of visiting the Christmas Shop but it was shut! Enjoyed food and drink in square and music festival before getting a direct bus back to Oslo.

Took the bus 500E but if you take the 500 you don't have to walk down the long hill. Between 45min to 1 hour depending which you go to. We took the ferry back and it was about 1 1/2 hour. Both methods of transportation...More
