This is an outstanding hike and if you're ready for a challenge I'd highly recommend it. I started off the morning feeling a little guilty since I ended up taking the cable car to the top of Mt. Ulriken. Getting to the trail head took...More

Good for blue sky day. Birds eye view of Bergen is exceptional. Trails are good for up or down. However, it is challenging height elevation to gain. The gondola cold help.

Well worth your time. This is nice hike and an excellent afternoon activity. Bring plenty of water and something to eat - it's nice to stop halfway through for lunch.

This hike, while an amazing experience, one that I can now look back on and say I'm glad I did, is not by any means an easy hike. My husband and I are decent hikers, and this tested both my physical and emotional limits. When...More

Start with climb up to Mount Ulriken, have a coffee break and than enjoy beautiful trail with scenic views. You will end in the city centre of Bergen.

This trail is very demanding, you basicly climb the rocks up and down the majority of time. On the other hand you will be surrounded by wonderful nature which helps you to forget about your troubles. Make sure you have enough time (12 km -...More

We went on the trail in May from Ulriken to Floyen but made it as far as Haukelands mountain hostel (1 hour there and 1 hour back to Ulriken). The path was demanding (do not expect a nice flat walking path - it is all...More

This is a moderate hike & totally worth the effort! Views are AMAZING. We got the cable car up to Mt. Ulriken & then followed the 'Vidden' waymarkers to the funicular at Mt. Floyen. Really easy to follow. Lots of other hikers / crazy runners...More

We caught the 'toruist' bus from the centre of town to the base of the gondola up to Mt Ulriken. I found this is best as its a huge hike up/or down and allows you to finish the hike back in the town of Bergen....More

I'm not sure what the earlier posted review about the 'staff being playmate bunnies in snowsuits' is all about - 'staff' on the Vidden trail consists of the people in charge of the Ulriken cable car or the Fløyen funicular, so by the time you're...More

Hello! Planning to do this hike about June 20th. How would I get from the center of Bergen to the start of the Vidden trail? Do I need to register or anything? Never been to Norway so want to make sure I understand the process. THANK-YOU! Greg

The Floibanen furnicular leaves from just behind Bryggen area (near McDonald's and Starbucks) for 45kr one-way. Once at the top of Floyen, you can choose your walk from there, no need to register. Most walks are well signed... More
Hi, is it possible to do this hike in February? Or are there guides out there who are able to take one on this trail?

You can go any time of year, but in the winter the sunlight lasts shorter, and IT can be mighty cold. Wear wind jackets and really warm clothes, gloves and wool mittens. Be prepared! But winter can be even nicer than summer... More

Hi! I would like to do this hike in early November, will I have any problems doing so with snow etc? I am a good hiker and am used to difficult terrain. Also is it possible to access easily from the city center without a car (especially since it is the off season). Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Like the others are saying, there might be snow but you're more likely to encounter rain and freezing winds. The weather is generally terrible in November. One thing you don't want to be doing is attempt to walk across if... More
