In the Town Hall Square in the Town of Roses stands the bronze statue of the Rose Maiden, surrounded by a dancing fountain. The Rose Maiden is young and beautiful and has her arms full of roses. The sculpture was a gift to Molde in 1971 from Gotlib Moe, owner of the former clothing factory Hovding Konfeksjonsfabrikk. It was sculpted by Ragnhild Butenschon. Molde Town Hall was completed in 1966 and is the result of an architectural competition won by the architects Cappelen and Rodahl. Built in concrete and stone it features gold-tinted glass. The roof of the town hall boasts one of the town's most beautiful rose gardens.

City of roses

Stopped here after seeing the sign. The rose garden was not very impressive at this time of the year but the view from there was very nice.

.... and who doesn't like water...? It's a symbol for the city (the roses), it's a nice statute and a waterfall around it. Straight forward.

Been here before and still enjoy the atmosphere of this lovely town and its surroundings. Well worth walking off the beaten track to enjoy the contrasts. We visited just before the Jazz festival which was being set up and it would be great to be there when this event was in full swing.

But we were too early for the actual roses. An interesting design to have the garden on the roof of the council building which adjoins the interesting church with a separate bell tower. Pretty town.

What more can I say about the Rose Maiden Molde Town Hall. If you mean just the bronze statue itself, it sets in the Town Hall Square surrounded by a dancing fountain. You can walk past it anyway when you're visiting the town. Walk around the area, it's pleasant enough.

Ok, there is a statue i front of the city hall in Molde. In the summer it is a fountain, in winter it is more boring. So if you go to Molde, you will pass it anyway, but nothing to be exited about. Just a fountain..

A lovely statue depicting the image of the town. There's also a great rose garden - both above the town hall and also by the church. The roses are well tended, and smell gorgeous.

This statue is located in Molde town and is one of those sightseeing things to do but the Molde town itself is an OK place to visit but the real joys come out of town along the Atlantic Ocean Highway and on Haholmen Island where you can experience a trip on an authentic Vikong Ship replica across to the base... The Rose Maiden is more than a statue. She represents hope for the people of Molde. The Rose Maiden is young and beautiful, and has her arms full of roses for peace. She was a gift to Molde in 1971 from Gotlib Moe, and was sculpted by Ragnhild Butenschøn. It has come to symbolize the “Town of Roses” in Norway.... More
