The Towner is situated around a 15 minute walk from Eastbourne station and overlooks Devonshire Park. It is nicely laid out with art on the first and second floors. There are spacious lifts available if you can't manage the stairs. We saw the 'Towards Night' exhibition curated by Sussex based artist Tom Hammick. This contained work by Hammick himself, as... Walking past you'd never gather from the outside or the foyer of the gallery that the exhibition includes Turner, Constable, Munch, Peter Doig, Bourgeois, Sidney Nolan, LS Lowry, Chagall - to name but a few! 'Towards Night' curated by Tom Hammick. Wonderful, wonderful exhibition. My favourite - painting by Peter Doig - shown here.

A diverse collection of artworks have been gathered together under the umbrella 'Towards Night' and it was a real pleasure to see unfamiliar works and old favourites together. The building itself is architecturally interesting, and parking is nearby. Well worth visiting.

We came to Eastbourne to visit this art gallery after hearing about the exhibition they had. An easy place to walk around and to see the art. Had lunch in their cafe which was also very good. The shop had good things to buy

If you are looking for a classy venue to throw a party in Eastbourne then I would recommend urban ground@towner. The coffee shop sits alongside a large space 'the junction box' and the combined space creates a venue suitable for up to 150 guests. The catering is provided by urban ground and they have a great choice of food options.... More

"One Day, Something Happens: Paintings of People" is a diverse and quite large exhibition of portraits. On another floor is "Towards Night", quite a big and varied exhibition of nightscapes, including one by Alfred Wallis, and a seascape by Turner. The third exhibition is in the Ravilious Room. Eric Ravilious painted the South Downs and there's always something by him... More

I loved this gallery. Great exhibitions, very thought provoking and inspirational. The staff were friendly and approachable and the items in the shop were well priced.
