As a group of friends we lunch together every few weeks. For the last few years we have sought to enjoy a Christmas lunch at the Dome, or more accurately the Dining Room at FF level where the students of the catering College, a part of derby University lean the customer facing part of their chosen career. The Dome itself... More

In truth there is not much here - but if you are in Buxton you really should go in to see it. The dome is absolutely stunning.

This has now been taken over by the University of Derby who have a place in Buxton now (in fact this place). It's beautiful inside and seemingly a vaity project for the Duke of Devonshire in its day. Nevertheless it's well worth a visit and apparently the spa is still in use even though we didn't see it.

Was disappointed that paying extra to go in that it wasn't all set up and not that many there. People we knew that went in later got a far better deal as more characters were there and it was cheaper . Do not think you should pay extra unless you get better value. Also staff on Costa coffee were not... More

It's hard to keep in mind that you are in a College and in a unique building the round building has history that is fascinating to read about. The catering students run the Cafe for breakfast coffee service then provide lunch service the Restaurant offers a quality lunch and a excellent evening meal. You need to book for the evening... Portion sizes were really good, not over facing. Consideration of dietary requirements was nice. Staff were attentive with out being domineering.

We visited The Dome as part of a tour around Buxton. It was built as a stable to house the horses & grooms of the gentry visiting Buxton to take the waters & spar. The Dome was added to the existing building later on.It was used as a Hospital in the first World War specialising in shell shock victims. Today it... More

attended an early evening event during the Buxton fringe and couldn't believe that they had shut the refreshments venues very disappointed that we couldn't get a drink surely a catering college could have provide some form of refreshment
