There is a lot of history in Tavistock. Part of it is around the Abby that Henry VIII destroyed. This church is on the site of the old Abby. It is worth a visit.

Ask the warden or someone in the church for some of the history ... how an extra aisle was added, the tiny ivory mouse, the 'ghost' that the choir boys liked ... Worth a few minutes while you're in Tavistock.

I come here when I need some sanctuary. I sit and take stock of things, light a candle for my loved ones and generally recharge my batteries.

The original abbey was destroyed in 1539 by Henry VIII. The ‘new’ church is hundreds of years old. The church displays a lot of that old world charm and history. It is a must see if you are in Tavistock.
