I really enjoyed my round. Even managed to stay out of all but one of the fairway bunkers. The wind was up a bit but playable. I even had a spot of rain on the back nine to complete the "Full English Golf Experience". Nothing too bad though. Staff in the pro shop are very nice getting me set with... More

Quite simply one of the best and warmest welcomes you could get an Open Course. From meeting the steward to the bar/dining room staff, shop and halfway hut, everyone was great. We stayed in the Dormy and had dinner in the Clubhouse. Limited set menu but you do can change if you need to. After dinner they provided cheese and... More

Really a 4.5 star course with only the lack of being on the ocean itself being the drawback. Tough but fair links course which we played on a cool, sunny, mildly breezy day which was about as benign as can be for this neck of the woods. Stayed out of the bunkers until #9 and only hit one fairway bunker... More

A British Open venue, this place was one of the reasons why I flew half way across the globe to visit this area. To play golf! A quirky course, and quite difficult in the wind, the bunkers killed my game. Nevertheless, a lunch was included in my visitor's green fee and walking around the clubhouse really gave me a good... Played in May with 2 friends on a beautiful but very windy day. We played off the Reds (PROs) which i quickly regretted after having to hit a driver into the par 3 first with what seemed like gail force winds. The course was in great condition and enjoyed walking around the clubhouse.

First of all I would just like to say that we have played both st Andrews and Carnoustie is wind and rain and in the winter months. Now that's out of the way I will also add we paid £100 for golf and lunch, not bad as it's usually £180 per round, you would have thought so, approximately 70% of... More

Visited Royal Lytham with a large group of golfers last weekend. The club failed to let us know that 99% of the 200+ bunkers were filled with water and unplayable. The visitor experience was not anywhere near as welcoming as that of Kingsbarns, Trump Aberdeen, Castle Stuart or any other trophy/championship golf course I have ever visited. On a plus... More

Recently visited with large group for final of golf competition, having been to Trump, Kingsbarns, Castle Stuart and Turnberry we were looking forward to another fantastic open championship course, winter golf can have pitfalls but often the experience can mask over this. No range balls or stroke saver as part of the cost and dated clothing requirement within the clubhouse.... More

While on pretty flat ground, the course has an abundance of significant (deep !) bunkers which protect the shots from any direction of wind. Most shots are shaped first by the location of bunkers and then the prevailing wind of the day. Despite the bunkers, the course is very playable. Lovely Clubhouse with helpful Staff both in Clubhouse as well... More
