Worth a visit
Jul 2021 • Family
Visited while staying nearby on holiday. Loved exploring the nature reserve along different paths and through the forest. A great place to spend a few hours. We didn’t spot any red squirrels but lots of different birds.
Highly recommend a visit.

Brilliant nature reserve, one to suit everyone
Jul 2021 • Couples
Excellent nature reserve to visit, easy to spend several hours there and in the surrounding area exploring the woodland walks. The reserve itself, the paths, hides and supporting information is of a very high standard, well maintained and presented - Jim and staff should be congratulated on this without doubt.
Highlight of the visit for me was to see a pair of great spotted woodpeckers (amongst many other types of birds including a jay). Also saw red squirrel, these were at the reserve centre building altho plenty of activity at the other hides too.

Random stop whilst travelling
May 2021 • Couples
What a great find. We were looking for somewhere to stretch our leg whilst travelling back to England. The weather was perfect and it was a joy to stroll through the immaculately maintained nature reserve. Everyone was spotless with hand sanitizer available where required. Even a compost loo in the middle. The volunteers shout every very proud of what they have done. Very worth a visit. Well done.

Excellent paths walks
Jun 2021
Visited 3 times in one week. Excellent paths for walking. Hides to watch the birds and squirrels. Lake . Laminated sheets to identify the different wildlife you might see. Think there is a path goes to Lockerbie. Will definitely visit again when in the area. Well thought out and constructed a credit to the area.

What a wonderful place to visit, great for a leisurely stroll through the wood and to take in the scenery, their pond and wildlife was fantastic, well done to all the volunteers for making our visit worth while.

Amazing place
Sep 2020 • Couples
Absolutely fantastic place, the bird life here is amazing, not to mention the red squirrels. The hides aren't open but that didn't matter as we just sat outside and waited a bit and we saw a red squirrel. Saw lots of birds too around the feeders and the walk areas, Siskins, Redpoll and Woodpeckers to name.a few. Well worth a visit.

Red squirrel.....yes!

Popped in for an hour on the way back to Somerset from Scotland in a motorhome (pre fish and chips from Castle Fryery, Lochmaben) and saw my first red squirrel ! Awesome. A lovely little haven with many birds on the numerous feeders and small lake.

Beautiful quiet nature reserve.

We went a family walk here with the grand kids. We didn't pick the nicest day but it's a great experience all the same. There are many species of flora, and fauna . Unfortunately the red squirrel s did not appear but we will be back again. At the moment the hide and loos are closed but I'm sure this is a covid precaution.
Entry is free and good parking is available.
