It is a good half a mile from the tiny car-park, scrambling down an unstable pathway. The site itself is well maintained, but take a torch if you want to sure of seeing anything. Many will not feel safe going down the ladder into the...More

The site of this cairn is on the hill behind Picaquoy campsite so very convenient if you are camping there. We went up on a windy day and a squall of rain came in too but there was an abandoned building to shelter in, half...More

If you like a chambered cairn then this is worth a visit, especially as it is free. You have to park part way up Wideford Hill then there is a downhill walk of about half a mile to the cairn - some of the path...More

Our view of the site was only from the road, and we did not walk the grounds; however, reading a history of the site and understanding the Viking settlement of the area makes it a very interesting place to visit.

Quite an isolated chambered cairn on a hillside with amazing views across mainland Orkney towards the Ness of Brodgar. It is fairly difficult to get to i.e. a drive to a small carpark (which was a bit difficult to find) and then a walk, a...More

With Cuween just down the road you would foolish to miss the fascinating burial cairn. Both seem to be ignored by visitors which is great for those of us who like to visit these places without the crowds. The site is a bit more difficult...More
