With vast areas of grass, lovely paths through, a bowling green, dedicated dog area, provision for Saturday morning park runs, cafe, towers so much that i have probably missed off too. This is a beautiful park with amenities for everyone even if you just want to watch the swans and the ducks in the lake. Go enjoy.

We visited Saltwell Park one sunny Sunday lunchtime when the park was busy, bustling with families enjoying the children's playground in the sunshine or riding the Thomas train around the park. Other folk were finding a quiet corner to enjoy the imaginative planting or enjoying a walk around the lake. History buffs may have been reading the information boards dotted... More

This park situated in Gateshead has large open grassed fields lots of walkways through wooded lawned flower arears, there is a refurbished cafeteria and one can actually hire a room herte too in the Saltwell towers. a large lake provides the local Swans and Ducks with a habitat.

I pass through the park quite a lot and it's now getting ready for spring the ground staff have been tidying up after the winter and everything is looking good. Lots of grandparents out with their grandchildren in the two play areas or looking at the chickens and animals in the enclosures the Japanese garden is worth looking out for..

High chairs available .. after refreshments went on round to play... More

A gem of the north east! Beautifully maintained park with lots to do for the whole family. Lovely walks around the lake or coffee in Saltwell towers. Definitely worth a visit.

Saltwell Park is a well maintained mature park in the centre of Gateshead it is one of the largest parks that I have ever seen and is beautiful. It has play areas, a boating lake, bowling greens, tennis courts, Rose gardens, woodland walk (complete with stream), bouncy castles. Free entry and good parking is a bonus. Café is limited and... Lovely day out for the family plenty to see and do with a nice cafe The only complaint I have is that the toilets were not very clean in my last visit but that I forgivable and easily made up by the lovely scenery of the park
