Fermanagh County Museum at Enniskillen Castle has reopened after undergoing a £3.5 million redevelopment. Enniskillen Castle, situated beside the River Erne in County Fermanagh, was built almost 600 years ago by Gaelic Maguires. Guarding one of the few passes into Ulster, it was strategically important throughout its history. In the 17th century it became an English garrison fort and later served as part of a military barracks. This historic site houses two museums, Fermanagh County Museum and The Inniskillings Museum and Fermanagh Visitor Information Centre. Opening Hours Monday to Friday (all year round): 9.30am* - 5.00pm Saturdays (all year round): 11.00am - 5.00pm Sundays (Jun to Sept): 11.00am - 5.00pm Bank Holidays - 9:30am* - 5:00pm Closure period - Enniskillen Castle will be closed over the Christmas & New Year holiday period. *9.30am opening for new visitor centre and 10:00am for other buildings Admission

I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to our newly refurbished site. There was free admittance during the recent Discover Fermanagh Open Weekend. There is, however, usually a small charge giving visitors admittance to two Museums and the historic Castle grounds. The new Visitor Centre at the Castle entrance is free and includes the Visitor Information Centre, an award-winning cafe, shop,... More

We had been to the Castle before but they have opened a new visitor centre in keeping with the Castle. Staff were very helpful with regard to information about exhibitions etc. The Military Museum was very interesting. Thoroughly enjoyed this visit, recommend it to all who are thinking of stopping in Enniskillen.

We arrived at Enniskillen Castle in order to visit the Inniskillings Museum. My maternal Grandfather had served with the Regiment during the 1st & 2nd World Wars and following my parents deaths in 2016 I had some memorabillia which i wanted to share. When we arrived at reception we were told that the Curator was on her lunch and that... More
