We visited Gressenhall Workhouse for their Victorian Christmas event yesterday. What a lovely experience So much work done by volunteers A choir with beautiful voices; our grandson made a peg doll, a scented pomander, played shove halfpenny and a Christmas bauble. Great place too visit with the kids. Aged 10/8 and 4. They loved the play park and the tractor ride.

An interesting historical site, small but very interesting, plenty to keep you busy for a few hours. A lovely small hands on farm, with a few friendly animals, a fun short tractor ride takes you around the whole of the farm. So much to do in a day!! An educational and hands-on museum on the histrory of Workhouses, Farm animals, a walking trail and playground. There was even a horse and trap trip around the farm

This is a special and educational day out, with an emphasis on fun but backdropped by the realities of a Victorian workhouse for the poor. Re-enactments exhibitions and regular events bring the reality of the cruel, unfair and harsh world of the workhouse to life. It’s right that our children are made aware of how tough life once was. Went here years ago for a school trip it was lovely and great we went for a victorian dress up day and we all learnt lots of history and had a tour and look around recommend going
