Overview
More
Bude Sea Pool is a part-natural, partially man-made tidal swimming pool on the beach at this popular seaside town in North Cornwall. It was built in the 1930s under the cliffs of Summerleaze Beach to provide safe bathing in sea water, but away from the dangerous Atlantic currents in the bay. Measuring around 91m by 45m, it is topped up at high tide by the Atlantic Ocean. Since 2012 it is managed by the Friends of Bude Sea Pool, a not-for-profit charity that took over the facility when public funding was withdrawn. The spacious Pool provides plenty of room for paddling or serious swimming: inflatables, snorkels, surfboards and even scuba divers are welcome - just be considerate of other users, please. Bude Sea Pool is open throughout the year and is FREE for all to enjoy. Lifeguards are on duty at peak times. Children must be accompanied at Bude Sea Pool at all times.

Really nice sea pool well kept by the sea pool trust. Sea water filled by tides so salty and can be quite cold. Obviously as it was October cold can be expected.

Thanks Huw for the review. We recommend people wear wet suits now the weather has turned a bit colder, these can be bought or hired locally and really do increase your enjoyment of the sea water experience in the pool.

Great well maintained place for our children. Feel so much safer using the pool rather than the sea at certain times..It is so well looked after.

Perfect swimming all year round. I'm sure there are other sea pools around the country, but I have never seen one. This facility has recently been restored and I have to say is a great asset to the town, long may it survive but it...More

Really large pool, so plenty of room for everyone. A great safe place for swimming and kids playing in the water without the worry of sea currents!!!

Thank you for your review - the North Atlantic coast can sometimes be dangerous so the sea pool is a safe clean and calmer environment for adults and children.

We walked past this pool at the start of our trek along the SWCP to Hartland Quay on a wild, wet and windy day. With the tide well in, as the pictures show it was certainly getting its fill of seawater- but not a place...More

The Sea Pool is in full sun from lunchtime onwards but if the tide is out there is a little shade by the cliffs on the adjoining Summerleaze Beach. Beach umbrellas are available from the Beach Office or nearby Life's a Beach... More

I would say yes, the sea and the pool temperature is still only around 13 degrees, so your swim will be much more enjoyable with a wet suit. There are several places in Bude where you can hire wet suits for the day at low... More
