We have been on Lundy Island in August. It was so peaceful, would recommend. I didn't want to leave the Lundy. The boat trip was so long for me (from Ilfracombe), it was 2 hours, and I was seasick. But it was unforgettable day! If you want to see the Puffins, go there in May or June. In August unfortunately... More

We stayed on Lundy in one of the marvellously quirky Landmark Trust cottages for two nights. We had pre-ordered some food from the (very well-stocked) shop on the Island and this was delivered with our baggage brought up from the ship by Lundy staff. We ate evening meals in the Marisco Tavern (separate review) which saved a lot of time... More

I had no idea just how absolutely remote, unspoilt and beautiful Lundy is. We stayed in Government House (5*) with 2 others, 10 more were in other properties. The boys climbed and the girls walked all over the island for four idyllic days. No phone signal, no wifi and the electricity goes off at midnight (take a torch... And don't... More

I got surprised with a day trip to Lundy for my birthday as I've always wanted to visit and it definitely didn't disappoint! The boat journey on the MS Oldenburg was enjoyable, it was a little bit chilly and it is 2 hours long from Bideford but we were lucky to not have a choppy journey, the views are amazing,... More

It's a good climb up the hill, but once there it's like being in another world. It's so quite, you could also see for miles even though there isn't anything to see. Wonderful place to reflect.

We went from ilfracombe to Lundy Island, 2 hour trip, we were very lucky with the weather it was a gorgeous day. Made our day to see dolphins on the way. Arriving on Lundy be prepared for a steep walk up to the top but it really is worth the effort. We walked a good 3 hours around the island,... More

Peace, Tranquility, Wildlife, Beauty, History, It`s all here. The Lundy staff are brilliant. The views are awesome. The Tavern is a great place to meet people and talk about your experiences. We saw Dolphins off the boats bow, Seals in the harbour, Peregrine Falcons on the cliffs, and so much more. WE LOVED IT

The boat trip from Ilfracombe or Bideford is interesting, followed by dolphins some of the way. We went on the vintage ship The Waverly. Some interesting bird life on the surrounding cliffs. Not much else in the way of entertainment, except the friendly pub. Can see everything in half a day. Quiet.

On reflection of our visit, which we really enjoyed - I would recommend going for longer than the day trip. Essentially, you spend nearly 5 hours travelling (including the queue up either end) for really only 3 hours on the island - barely enough time for lunch and a quick walk. We took a picnic so we got the most... More

This was the second time for me on Lundy, both times for four days, with a group of people. Once you have disembarked from the MS Oldenburg, the generally rough-ish crossing quickly gets forgotten. You make your way up a steep path to the top of the cliffs to where the pub (Marisco Tavern), small shop, campsite and info office... More
