Rode on the MER as part of the Douglas Horse Tram gala and it was all very enjoyable especially on some of the nicer days we were there when we had the most wonderful views of the bay as we approached Onchan and beyond. Delightful really, and when you live in a busy, noisy city like London it is these... More

enjoyed the trip and information on the way. Wasn't impressed with the tea in the café, it was an icy cold day and the much needed cup of tea was not drinkable.

Tried this out for old times sake but it would have been better if staff organised the passengers better. The carriages were packed and while most passengers sat four per bench, some selfishly spread themselves out three per bench, stopping others getting on and staff didn't bother. A young family were disappointed to be left behind.

The MER is simply for tourists. The locals don't really use it as it is far too expensive. I live in Laxey and I can get a day return to douglas for a fiver using the bus and it is so much faster. The MER single journey will cost you a fiver... It is barmy really. Still I used it... More

A great way to see the coastal scenery between Douglas and Ramsey. A bit rickety but thats all part of the charm.

The trip was not too long or too short. From Douglas to hear and back it was a perfect one day trip with a lot of interesting things too see for a rail enthusiast. The top of Snaefell mountain was covered in fog by the time we got there but we had a pleasant scone inside the restaurant.

Really quirky little railway, accesses the East coast North through Lacey and in to Ramsay. Take a coat as breezy off sea. Views dramatic, ride is slow, but enjoyable if a little noisy. Good way to see this part of the island and the option to go to the top of the mountain from Laxey.

Caught tram from Douglas to Halfway house and from Laxey to Halfway house. Helpful staff at ticket offices. Friendly helpful staff on trams. Great way to travel on island . Comfy seats on enclosed trams. Scenic routes. A must for visitors.

myself and the children loved it, if you are going to snaefell mountain get your return from Douglas rather than Laxey as a lot cheaper! Under 5's are free. Nice Cafe at top of Snaefell.
