The odd inscription on Rob Roy's grave says "McGregor Despite Them" and refers to a time when to be called McGregor meant that you could be arrested as an undesirable, or even hanged, because you belonged to a clan, the members of which were regarded as being outlaws. The grave is in a lovely peaceful part of the Trossachs and... More

I am a descendant of Rob Roy MacGregor and so this place holds a special place in my heart. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. There are no words to describe sitting next to the grave of your ancestor. The parish church is a must see.

We stopped here on our way from Stirling to Oban - it's a short detour off the highway. A beautiful peaceful spot - the sun was out and we enjoyed a picnic on the benches.

We stopped off on our return journey south. The grave is signposted off the A84 and is about 2 miles away in the village of Balquidder on the shores of Loch Voil in a quiet corner of the country. The grave is located within the churchyard and is quite clearly marked although the plaques are becoming worn and soon will... More

If your in the area it's worth a visit, Rob Roy is a historical figure and it was interesting to visit his grave, I like old grave yards too so it's right up my street. Nice village and plot.

If this is your thing it is worth a look. It is on the Stirling to Calendar road, two or three minutes off the main road.

Rob Roy was an interesting person. So this place is built of his honour. Very historic place. I am happy that Scotland is doing everything to protect historical places.

We visited this attraction in January on a foggy day and was a good thing to do. It's a couple of miles from the main road on a small twisty lane but worth a trip. There's some information about rob roys grave, and it lies in the church yard which has some nice buildings around to look at. We took... More

Look for the one with the low iron box around it, raised about 1/2 foot. He, his wife, and his son are all interred here. Be sure to go inside the church to see the Stone of Angus as well!
