The main thing I remember about this castle is it's "hidden" barbican. When you enter there is a large and long climb up to a vantage point on top. If you look down the inside of this wall you can just see the barbican gate...More

The car park, which has no disabled places is quite small but there seems to be plenty of off road parking in the area. The toilets in the car park have seen better days but are the only ones on site. The castle is well...More

Set in the attractive Moors-edge market town of Pickering. 13th century castle was used throughout the centuries. Nice walk around, lovely views from high points. Was exciting to watched with binoculars birds nest in castle wall. Recommended.

We went to the Pickering Castle because it had parking close to the town centre. The castle grounds and large and well kept. The castle itself is mostly in ruins, but is regardless very interesting. A good way to spend and hour in Pickering.

We had a nice walk round. The view from the high points was beautiful. We didn't buy the guide. But may it would have been a good idea.

Yes, you can go round in a wheelchair, but there are some restrictions, and dogs are allowed if kept on a lead.

I have visited Pickering Castle many times, and have seen people with their dogs on the castle grounds, and always on a lead. So I am certain that it is allowed.
