Ightham Mote is a home built in the thirteenth century with a moat, lake, and gardens... Afterwards, we visited Penshurst Place which is a much larger home. It has very extensive and beautiful gardens which were just coming into bloom when I was there. I enjoyed my visit there as well.”

A great spot to pass some time in Sevenoaks town centre. A calming atmosphere compared to the library downstairs. They change the exhibitions regularly, showing work by local contemporary artists. I look forward to the building being fully open again.

As others note "disappointing". When the library opened it actually had a pretty decent town museum, but this has been replaced by a small room with a few basic cabinets. The rest of the space is now a space for children to do craft in the holidays and a pretty ropey small gallery festooned with what looked like casts of feet and ribbons. If you listen carefully you might just be able to hear a curator's ghost crying somewhere. Worth ten minutes if you're waiting for a bus, but I'd suggest you go for a coffee instead.

The entrance to the gallery was closed as a meeting was taking place in what I presume was the gallery area although from what I saw through the glass doors there was little to entice me. I looked in at the 'museum' next door which consisted of a few dark and dingy display cabinets and despite ambitiously claiming that 'Sevenoaks takes centre stage in world history' (really?) I found it all underwhelming.

This little gallery is hidden away on the top floor of Sevenoaks Library. Free admission during Library opening hours. Run by an Artists co-operative the Sevenoaks Visual Art Forum, the gallery has gone from strength to strength, with a big commitment to developing talent and engaging the local community. Sign up in the gallery for the newsletter to be kept informed of new exhibitions, workshops, etc. Convenient parking and near the bus station.

Couldn't work out what this was from the title. Library with gallery/museum bit upstairs. Lights are pretty at night.
