Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre is best-known as the home of the world-famous Lovell Telescope -A near 90m high radio telescope that has become an iconic landmark on the Cheshire landscape.

Seeing the telescope up close and in action is an exhilarating sight and the Centre's interactive displays and exhibits help explain what the telescope does and how it works.

The Discovery Centre also includes a cafe and gift shop, along with 35 acres of gardens and arboretum, complete with picnic areas and playground, perfect for a family day out.

You'll also find a year-round events programme including live science shows taking place during school holidays, a popular evening lecture series, and the award-winning annual festival of discovery, Bluedot.

I have wanted to visit Jodrell Bank for years so now I have my own 10 year old I thought now was a good as any .Bought the tickets and was looking forward to a fun filled educational day out.1 1/2 hours later we were looking for something else to do.Probably great if you are a solar planet enthusiast and... This place is a must visit for me once a year and it never fails to spark and peak my interest in all things solar system and universe. Jump between the earth and the moon near the main telescope. Walk the grounds to get a sense of scale within the solar system. Marvel at the radio telescope if you are... More

My boyfriend and I visited on Easter Saturday as he'd never been! I hadn't visited in some years either. It's different to what I remember but definitely still a lovely morning out. Lots of information and interactive resources to keep us entertained. Not sure I'd bring younger children as most of the science and information would go over their heads.... More

The price is rightly, family of 4 £21.50 With young children is not a good ideal, would be suited over 8+ Nice walk around but not much thing to do. Park need upgrade biggest play area only got 4 equipment overcrowded kids play with biggest garden waste space

I used to love visiting Jodrell Bank before it had its makeover and the updated displays and info was put in place. The planetarium has gone, along with it the interactive trips to other planets. The old, historic and interesting scientific measuring instruments have also gone - there used to be quite a lot of these displayed and they demonstrated... More

Didn't really see the point of this place. Sure, the big telescope is quite smart but the visitor centre doesn't have enough in it to keep you amused for long. Cafe is decent. Gift shop is decent. But don't plan for an afternoon at the Discovery Centre as there just isn't enough to fill more than a couple of hours... More

We found ourselves not far from Jodrell Bank so decided to make an impromptu visit. Good amount of parking and prices I thought were reasonable (£18 for 1 adult and 2 children). Arrived just in time for the science show which was good. Not aimed at younger children though. Afterwards we went into the grounds and had fun with the... More

We visited Jodrell Bank during the Easter Holiday with our son, who is 5 years old. The radio telescope is spectacular, and you can get close to it - there is a fence running along just outside the tracks it sits on. As well as a number of crows flapping around and perching on the superstructure there are a couple... More

A really interesting place with exhibits to engage all ages as well as outdoor activities. The Lovell telescope remains an impressive sight and we were lucky enough to see it turning. There was an entertaining Black Hole Show and craft activities for the children (I presume these were only during the Easter hols). And entry didn't cost the earth, so... More

The Lovell Telescope at Jodrell Bank has been the largest landmark in the Cheshire countryside for many years. It has played a major role in Astronomical research and discovery. We visited years ago when it had a Planeterium, and I remember the Space Suit worn by an Apollo Astronaut and a piece of moon rock. Mobile phones must be switched... More
