I have frequented this wonderful little theatre, many many times. It is a smaller stage than most other theatres but that adds to the intimate atmosphere. The actors very often enter the stage from different parts of the theatre, which again adds to an air of excitement and closeness. I have always loved the informalness that this small theatre exudes...... More

This continues to be a wonderful theatre. Since my last review it has been great to go to performances now the seats are numbered. Also I've enjoyed the high stool seats on the 3rd/back rows on the ground floor level, and would choose them in preference to the more traditional seating where you can be a bit "lit-up" on the... Saw matinee performance of 'Sheppey'. A great place. Theatre in the round. An intimate theatre experience. Comfy padded bench seats. Bar area is pleasant but rather small and cannot accommodate many. There are steps up to the entrance and the toilets are down a flight of stairs. Good service from staff. Lots of decent places nearby to eat and drink.... More

We have been going to Orange Tree for a few years now and are never disappointed. Their shows are of amazing quality, even beating some things we've seen in the West End. High recommend the Under 30 tickets for £12, a real bargain! Small intimate theatre means everyone can see and enjoy the performance from any seat. Love this place... More

This was our first trip to this theatre to see a favourite singer interpret Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. Barb admitted to having a cold but if she managed that performance with a cold, what would she have been like in fine fettle? The theatre sat about 160 fans and afforded a nice intimate space for her performance. The bar... More

Second time at the Orange Tree & another wonderful evening. French Without Tears was excellent. Little places like this need support but you will not be dissapointed. Combine with an overnight stay, plenty of lovely restaurants to chose from.

Amazingly good performances from the two young actors tonight, with a very inventive and humorous script that never flagged for a second. And the use of props was also exceptionally creative - overall a gem of a play! Very highly recommended for all ages - my daughter and I had a great time

This is a great little theatre and well worth a visit with a good pub next door as there are limited catering facilities on site. That is no problem as there are plenty of places for a drink on the high street and there is a good pub virtually next door. Have seen some great plays there and going again... More

Went here to see a very good production of Terence Rattigan's play "French Without Tears". It is a small "in the round" theatre located in an old primary school which has seen some modern refurbishment but which sadly lost its Arts Council funding two years ago. Ticket costs are very reasonable, and the theatre is easily accessible, being almost across... More

We saw the philanderer by George Bernard Shaw recently together with a concert by the Allegri String Quartet at the Orange Tree. Both were excellent in their own ways. The Philanderer is an interesting exploration of relations between men and women and was well acted and directed. The Allegri give regular concerts, mainly of Brahms, Beethoven, Mendelsohn etc but this... More
