We were hiking from San Marcello Piteglio over the Ponte di Castruccio along the river to get to the ponte sospeso. It is an impressive hike where you can encounter snakes, foxes and other little animals if you are a bit quiet. The bridge was temporarily closed for repairs, but we had to cross it to get back to our starting point. So it was exciting couse we didn't know what to expect. But we made it safe and sound!

This is definitely worth the walk from town to cross the Lima River by this suspension bridge. Beautiful views up and down the river with vistas all around.

Easy access to the bridge from the free car park on the San Marcello side of the river
The bridge itself is narrow making it a bit of a squeeze passing people coming from the opposite direction
We visited in early September so it was quite quiet - there is a cafe/bar and children's play area below the bridge which is easily accessed
Well worth a visit but avoid a windy day if you are concerned about the bridge flexing!

You get some great views from the centre of this bridge. It’s quite a drop to the river below. And it’s free!

I wouldnt go out of the way to visit the bridge, but while in san marcello pistoiese, its a fun thing to do with the kids. They loved it and took beautiful pictures on it.
Not for people who suffer fear of hights.

We drove from the Montecarlo area and went on a VERY windy road to get here. The twisty road took more than an hour and was exciting for only the first 15 minutes. We returned via Pistoia which was much easier, yet still enough twists and turns. The bridge is impressive and there's a stocked fish pond near the cafe underneath the bridge. This would be better if it was just a stop along the way rather than a destination. Ponte della Maddalena…..Devil’s Bridge is a much more impressive bridge.

This free attraction is a metal suspension bridge over a deep wooded valley and river. The views are really impressive and there is some info in English on boards.
There are a few steps before and after the bridge but otherwise it is accessible for all abilities. It is definitely a place to visit, and there are footpaths into the surrounding woods and village for a longer visit.

This bridge had been closed on our previous visits to the area so we were really excited about going to see it. We really enjoyed the scenic drive up to the bridge, and there was a free car park when we reached it. Despite there being quite a few people crossing it at the same time as us, it wasn't a problem as you can easily let each other by if necessary. Great views and a couple of restaurants close by if you need something to eat or drink. We really enjoyed it.
