Part museum, part restaurant, part shrine and concert site, add a dash of local crafts in the basement and extensive grounds, this is a quiet but worthwhile visit. One of the few places globally where a restaurant tries to mix Scottish cuisine with Estonian!

This is nice castle with huge park. There is an interesting exhibition about composer - Eduard Tubin.

It is not a cheap place to eat but the atmosphere and the food quality is worth it. The wine list is also long and everyone should get to choose something for their taste (except for the rose, they only had one in the list... a good one, though).

Alastkivi Castle is a proper castle not far from Lake Peipus and Tartu. Recommended place to visit if you're in the area.

We enjoyed our self-guided tour of the manor, though there is little explanatory material of the individual rooms. The country has done a wonderful restoring this beautiful mid-19th century estate. The restoration work is described in great detail. We especially enjoyed the exhibit on Tubin, one of the most notable Estonian composers and conductors. The grounds are a delight as... More

My friend and I stayed here and for 80E a night, with made to order breakfast, what a steal. This is the best deal around. We loved the grounds and the restaurant. We rented a car and explored surrounding area during day. We got lucky and an old Estonian lady took us on a walk from white bride of this... More

This beautiful manor house is gradually being restored again after years of neglect. The rooms show the splendour of the times, the chimneys in the different rooms were definitely necessary. Search for the servants quarters in the basement, climb to the top to see out from the balcony window.

The castle is set in lovely grounds and has a decent restaurant. Though it was from the Swedes it is based on Balmoral Castle in Scotland allegedly but not so grand. Inside they try hard with the old house and a display on the conductor Edvard Tubin. Takes about 15-20 minutes so 5.50 euro is a bit pricey.

Who would have thought that this beautiful castle was a gift to a secretary of the Swedish king Gustav II Adolf in the 1601. During the early 1600 Estonia was actually a part of the Swedish Empire ! Visiting the castle mid October is actually a bit too late as there's hardly anyone there and the restaurant was very empty... More
