This place is a lot more wild and rough round the edges than some other sites but that adds to its charm. Aphrodisias is just as good as anywhere else and the stadium is the best I have seen.

Stopped off here on our way back from pamukale. We took about 3 hours to look around with our guide. The whole site is well restored in relation to other ruins that we visited. It is another large site and was also the centre of...More

A very large area, not yet restored as much as they plan to. Very many areas to consider - the arena, the grassy fields with the standing columns and facades, the many sarcophagi and carved headers of former buildings. Such a richness of ancient civilizations...More

As this site is one of the main production areas for many wonderful stone statues and carvings there is plenty to see here and the detail on some is some of the best you will see in Turkey. The site is interesting to walk around...More

Absolutely amazing to see an entire ancient city to be excavated. The size of the city is impressive and the ruins are well preserved. Some of the buildings were rebuild using the original materials that the archaeologists found in the city. And the stadium was...More

Aphrodisias is famous in archeology, and a long walk around this big site soon shows why. We were there in winter, so had the place mostly to ourselves, which adds to the strong atmosphere. Just three of the main attractions are 'world-beaters' in themselves. Near...More

Aphrodisias is a perfectly beautiful and interesting 2-3hr stopover on the drive from Selcuk to Pamukkale. Roads are very good and well signed, so we fit the round trip by rental car into one long, but very rewarding day - need to be on the...More

The ancient city of Aphrodisias was an experience I won't ever forget. When I saw the Tetrapylon (monumental gate), the beauty stopped me in my tracks. To stand there, to walk around it and through it...was transporting. I am so in awe of the history,...More

This is a large site with plenty of archaeology to explore. Used to be a school for stone masons so has huge number of artefacts to see. The museum on site is well stocked and presents the history of the site very well. Ancient Greece...More

We will be in Kusadasi in October. Where would you contract with a guide at Aphrodisias? What if we traveled to Pamukkale?

We went to Aphrodisias by ourselves. Did not require a guide, but did need transportation to get there. The guide books were enough for self guided tour at our own pace and comfort.
