Lovely Country Park

We have been to Rufford several times and always enjoy are walks there - usually around the lake to see the ducks.

It was a pity we couldn't get into the abbey because of building work, but we had a nice walk and something to eat and drink in the cafe worth the visit. Something to do if in the area.

So sorry that you weren't able to have a look at the lovely "Undercroft" and the Abbey remains during your visit. English Heritage is carrying out some essential repair work but it should be all done by mid March. Do come back and visit us again in summer or autumn if you get chance - the ruins are very interesting.... More

Rufford Country Park has plenty to offer for everyone Walks around the lake and woods, with plenty of opportunity to bird watch, hidden corners and lovely flowers. There is plenty for children to do, from a good play area to an interesting trail. History in abundance in the Abbey itself, with well laid out boards that are easy to understand.... More

Thanks so much for your lovely review. As I drove in this morning I spotted that the first of the daffodils are out. Snowdrops all looking good still too. So hopefully Spring isn't long around the corner and we hope you'll come back and visit again! More

Lots to do and suitable for all ages, groups of people and can go in all weather. Have been in hot summer for picnics, frosty walks in winter and crunchy woodland adventures in autumn. The abbey ruins are interesting and there's a mixture of field, woodland, water, miniature gardens and play areas. Highly recommend visiting the coach house for lunch,... More

With no admission charge and a carpark that only costs 3 pounds you can't go wrong at Rufford. Lots to see and do for all ages and particularly good that they have a good firm path all the way around the lake suitable for pushchairs, wheelchairs etc. The ruins were closed due to repairs but that didn't spoil our visit.... I reviewed Rufford Abby following a nice walk in the middle of summer and it was wonderful, that said, we went a few days ago for a walk in the winter and it had more wild birds and creatures running around than in summer. Our dogs loved the walk, you can stop off at several places to have a cuppa... More

Thanks for your lovely review. The park does have its own special appeal in winter, when it's quieter and there are usually lots of scampering squirrels, rabbits and birds around. Great to see the signs that Spring is on its way - snowdrops in full bloom all down the main drive today and catkins on the trees by the lake.... More

Plenty of parking at this jewel of Notts heritage. At either end,Abbey or Ford you'll pay £3 to park but stay all day and it's great value.Nothing else to pay unless you opt for a drink and snack at the café.Stroll around the lake looking out for all the wildlife,Don't miss the Ice House,Pets graves,Orangery, gardens and of course the Abbey.

I spent a whole day there. Plenty to see and do. Great for birdwatchers. I saw ducks there that I had never seen before. Great walk around the lake. Wheelchair accessible which was great as we took my mum. Sparkling afternoon tea in the Saville restaurant was a treat, so yummy.

It was a very cold February day when we decided to 'just look and see". We expected very little but loved what we got. If you are looking for excitement, then this isn't for you as this is not what ruffled Abbey Country Park is all about. However, if you like the historical aspects, then it's worth visiting. Whilst part... More
