Worth every cent. Such a worthy and necessary sanctuary that we should all support. Well worth the stop and trip.
Worth every cent of the entry fee. Am somewhat shocked by AmandaL from Canada’s review giving it 3 stars because they didn’t come out to eat when she wanted. This is a sanctuary for animals that have been abused by humans. So necessary and worthy. A great stop and sanctuary that perhaps we should all support fully. The handmade ice creams in the shop are delicious and the proceeds also go to the animal welfare cause.

A conscious, meaningful rescue center worth supporting
Stunning animals, an informative guided tour, and a true commitment to their stated mission of rescue, rehabilitation, and release. Science communication and education well executed. Went with family, and this was a worthwhile, wonderful stop along our drive from Manuel Antonio to Tamarindo just off the highway.

    Lovely 1 hour visit
Our family with older children enjoyed our visit. It is a pleasant way to spend an hour learning about some of the local animals. The entrance fee was $12 per person, which was reasonable, and we were happy to support their mission of rehabilitating injured and orphaned animals. Our son really wanted to see a jaguar while in Costa Rica and it was great to see Celeste. The mountain lions and ocelots were beautiful. We went to visit in the middle of a hot day so all but one of the mountain lions was napping, but we were able to see parts of the napping cats. The green parrots saying “hola” were also a hit. There are bathrooms and a small gift shop.

    Get the calendar!
Wonderful organization doing great work to rescue animals. My daughter and I got a guided tour (e-mail them to reserve) and heard the stories behind many of the rescued animals. It's a convenient stop between Liberia and Monteverde and the parking lot feels quite safe (it is far off the road and in the middle of the animal enclosures). We liked it so much that we visited twice on our trip! Their calendar is a wonderful souvenir with beautiful photos and stories of the cats.

Hard to read the stories of these save animals. Most had to be saved due to human contact and abuse

Lots of animals mostly orphaned as the signs said, enclosures were a bit on the small side and with fencing limiting picture taking a bit.
Supportive of the concept/intention although unsure how we felt about it.

Based on some of the other reviews, I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the rescue center and things to see, and the size and quality of the enclosures. This appeared to be a place that really put the animals first, not a zoo, and the value at $12 per person felt very fair.

What an amazing place! No need to book in advance if you do a self-guided tour. Lots of fantastic animals to see: big cats, monkeys, birds, deer, peccaries, turtles, sloth & grisson. Many sad stories (injured through illegal hunting, rescued from the pet trade, etc) but all proceeds go towards the lifetime care of these animals. Lots of informative exhibits. Very reasonable entry fee, nice little gift shop and toilets on site. So pleased we took the time to visit, highly recommend.

This is a great initiative and interesting place to go. However, we were told that feeding time was 2:30 and we waited almost an hour to see the feeding. The staff walked by us to feed another animal and didn’t come back for over 15 minutes with no communication at all. We tried to ask them but they blatantly ignored us. Please train your staff to communicate just a little bit in order to improve the experience.

We visited on route from Liberia to Arenal. The sanctuary is well worth a visit and deserves support. An employee offered to guide us around the centre which was nice and we learned so much about the work done there. Sadly the animals you see cannot be released back into the wild, but they are well cared for and each has its own story. There is also a rescue/clinic area with a successful release programme which for obvious reasons is not open to the public. The centre also provides educational programmes and funds raised from sanctuary visitors goes towards all the good work the centre does.
