A wonderful warm welcome by all the staff. We went on the last Victorian tour of the day at 3.30 - really interesting by an amazingly enthusiastic tour guide! Also had time for a look round the exhibition areas, great fun panning for gold and on returning from the mine a cup of tea and cake - the scones were... More

It was nice. An unusual National Trust property. The mine was very interesting and some hands on things for kids. However not a lot to do really. The coffee shop is a franchise National Trust shop. Not the same quality of goods at all and seemed a little dated if honest. Staff friendly enough though. Could do with a re... More

Travelling with someone with limited walking ability we didn't expect to be able to do the tour, but we had hoped to at least get out of the car park. Thoughtfully the blue badge parking was closest to the entrance, but the steep slope was just too much for my companion. I ventured up alone, but saw no reason to... More

We (2x 26 year olds) enjoyed our visit to the gold mine, the staff were informative and friendly, the food in the cafe was lovely. There's plenty of parking and toilets available and dogs were on-site too. The tour guides were informative and friendly. All in all a fun / informative day out lasting a few hours - would recommend.

What a fabulous day out, staff are amazing and very knowledgeable, definitely worth making a day of it and doing both the Roman and Victorian tours. Make sure you wear decent shoes as both tours involve a bit of walking and inside the mines are a bit wet. Very reasonable price to get in and the food wasn't overpriced either... More

My Aunt visited from England last weekend and I thought that this would be something cool to do. I wasn't sure how long we would spend here so planned something else to do for the afternoon, but we were here for hours! We arrived around 11 and left at 5, there was so much to see and do. I found... More

This is not for the faint hearted! There are 2 guide paths the 2nd being very steep. Other attractions include the cafe and gold panning. You need to be able to manage very steep slopes and steps. Wheelchair users can get around the cafe and attractions on ground but not on the tours. This is a historic site and is... More
