Beautiful mosque

Definitely worth a visit whilst in Muscat! Absolutely beautiful mosque. Just remember to wear clothes that cover (there is a shop where you can rent or buy an abaya if you forget).

If you have time only for one attraction to visit in Muscat it has to be Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. It is beautiful, traditional and modern all together almost a fairy tale like. Audio guides are available and very helpful. If you have time to stop at the visitor center and enjoy cup of coffee with the local volunteers you... More

Had a wonderful time visiting! We got in no problem, but were there before 9:30 or so. When we were leaving, it was crazy trying to get in! Go to the parking lot and then walk around the Mosque to one of the other entrances. I would have liked a tour or at least the audio guide as I enjoy... More

When you arrive and you drive past the Grand Mosque on the freeway connecting the airport to your hotel, you might be tempted to think what a modest, albeit neat and tidy contribution to Muscat architecture this Grand Mosque is. Not a bit of it. Step inside and be in awe of such a beautiful building. The chandelier is simply... More

This is a place you have to see while in Muscat. Very impressive modern architecture. Also nice to visit the islam visitor centre afterwards, where u get coffee and dates and can chat with the very friendly volunteers there.

This mosque is amazing, the atmosphere is lovely, the mosque itself is amazing, such rich decoration. Gardens are lovely too and you can wander round yourself. We particularly enjoyed the visit to the information centre at the end, where we were offered coffee, water and dates and were able to ask the lady volunteers any questions we had about religion,... I've been there couple times and other visits for prayers. Grand Mosque always amazed me. Its absolutely beautiful, peaceful surroundings and you get to learn so much about the culture. My favorite area in Grand Mosque is the library, its unique ambiance and excellent collection.

I have visited this place many times and would recommend it if you like to see the sense of the Islamic decoration and art. Your camera will be full of beautiful pictures once you leave the place.
