Spent about 30 minutes here on a whirlwind tour of Muscat and its featured attractions. This museum was part of the itinerary and it provided a good background on the history and development of both Oman and Muscat in particular. The exhibits were extensive and educational. Could have spent more time here but the tour limited our time.

A very interesting insight about the Oman traditions and history. It takes about a couple of hours to visit the whole museum. I recommend to read all the details and explanations for the exhibits. See the outside models of the Omani houses and town scale model. Entrance fee is OMR 2. You can also enjoy a good latte in the... More

We were very interested in all the artefacts and information regarding the history of Muscat. Very informative and interesting for all the family. You can not take photos but the lessons learnt were fantastic. A must see! Even the souvenir shop is worth the visit :)

Interesting museum of Zubair family. It has three separate buildings and each of them represent different topics about Omani lifestyle or history. I loved seeing old times rooms with tiny entrances and lamps. Got some idea about Omani traditional clothes. Their style varies depending on region. Also the furnitures and maps we saw were amazing. It is not far away... More

I mean is it unbelievable. No. I was pretty cool however to see the local furniture and weapons and such. There was no real art. But you can see it in about 30 minutes and it is great to cool off from the hot outside.

We arrived 30 minutes before the museum closed and wished we had more time. Photography was not allowed inside during our visit. The museum is in a traditional looking building but is very modern and air conditioned inside. There are various types of clothing, jewelry and household items on display on the ground floor. The museum is so much better... More

Museum was neat, clean, and well put together. It took me a while to figure out the painting of the goats outside the museum. I was finally informed they were freeform for anyone who is interested in painting. Do not miss going upstairs in the museum. There is an interesting coin/stamp collection in one room and another room has old... More

Museum has interesting information about the different styles of traditional clothing and the cultural history of Oman. It also contains interesting collections of coins and stamps. It also helped me learn more about history - as part of Pakistan used to be part of Oman
