Totally unexpected and highly recommended. It is a unique corner offering a variety of restaurants selection and historical atmosphere.

A lovely trip from Caserta in the local bus. Small hilltop village, very pleasant to wander and have lunch. Recommended for a half day excursion.

Definitely go there! Beautiful especially during the sunset! Old beauty...It is really amazing just for walk between these narrow streets;-) We also had a dinner there- pasta was amazing! You will not regret it!

I can't believe this isn't on the travel blogs' radar. It's a great place to stroll around. Nice little church, restaurants, shops and small streets to get lost on. However, make sure you ready for an uphill hike from the parking area to the village. It's not all that bad but if you have any physical difficulties, you should be aware of the walk.
This village is also not far from Caserta, which is a "must see" as well. If you're traveling between Rome and Naples, this is a great area to check out.

Casertavecchia is a small village on the hills of Caserta.
It is a veery nice old town but it seems like that the local authority do not know how nice is this village, when you visit it you will have a mix feeling.
It is nice, yes but there is missing LOVE and competence.
Something here is kept well and many other things are just neglected.
What a pity!

Casertavecchia, a frazione of Caserta, is an Italian medieval village that lies at the foot of the Tifatini Mountains located 10 km north-east of the City of Caserta at an altitude of approximately 401 meters. Its name translated from Italian means "Old Caserta".

Not far from modern Caserta , up on the hill you will discover the windy old village. One to two degrees less than in the valley it is a refreshing moment in summer. You eat very well there.

It’s easy to reach here with a local bus from the train station in Caserta.
Caserta vecchia holds an old town charm which is not so different from many others. Stone pathways, quiet, clean and vacation-like. It’s a weekend dinner/gathering destination for residents in neighboring towns.

Small village, nicely kept. In the middle of the day there isnt much to do here (in May), a few very sad looking restaurants were open thats all.
