Impressive building, hard to miss if you are at ferrara. Definitely worth a visit and take a few photos along the way.

It is a very well maintained medieval castle. All the explanations are in Italian. Go up the tower, it is worth the extra euros, the view is gorgeous!

If you have only a few hours to spare in Ferrara then visit the Castello Estense. It is a 25 minute walk from the railway station but there are buses available. The bus fare is a fixed price so have some loose change available.

This castle sits proudly in the centre of town. It is really incredible. It has a drawbridge and moat on one side (not far from passing traffic!). The other side backs up to a town square. It is a beautiful structure with a very interesting history. We wish we had had more time to spend here. It is the centrepiece... More

There is a nice view of the moat and town from the Orange Garden on the first floor. The Ducal Chapel has very ornate decoration. The ceiling of... More

Visited the castle with a comapny event. We had a guide that was very helpful to explain us everything, from the history of the castle, till all the details of each room we toured. Highly recommended!

This castle, in the very center of the town, do not seem to have served a protective role, as it is not in an elevation, certainly because there are not many in this region. Very well conserved, it is a nice place to know.
