We chanced on this by accident and were lucky to overhear an American guide explaining how the ruins had been discovered. Although there were some people within the grounds it was not accessible from where we were, but still interesting to see.

Easy to view from outside the railings. We were unable to gain access as only opens at set times. However there is no difficulty in making out the formation of the theater from the remaining ruins.

As with so many museums around here, the opening hours are not always as stated! We eventually got to see this though. Entrance fee just 1€. Small exhibition with limited English translations. Good to be able to actually wander around the theatre itself. Worth a visit if you can find it open

Great ruins in the city center. During our visit, opera was on the scene so we could feel the atmosphere of the place. It had not survived too much to our times.

fascinating and well-preserved. Lecce may be the cleanest city of the larger cities in the South of Italy very lovely. Would highly recommend visiting Lecce.

Find the linked museum and pay the few euros to get in as this lets you get into the auditorium. See first paragraph of my review of centro storico.

Anyone who has some interest in antiquity and feels sated with the Baroque Lecce and all the churches should visit the well preserved Roman theatre dating from2nd century BC. Apart from the theatre itself, once can visit an interesting museum devoted to its history. I visited on a rainy day and there were only 3 people visiting!

Lecce seems to be sprinkled with lots of little treasures in unusual places and this is another one. Again, not on a grand scale, but so nice to see it out in the open available to everyone to view...kitties hanging out below. Interesting history.

Really disappointing and not worth the trouble of visiting this run down display or museum. Everything looks so tired and there are empty displays. Save your money and go some where else.

The small Roman theater is a real little jewel. Some of it was discovered when people started building apartments and gardens around it. It's still very hard to find as it sits between residential buildings but look for it. It's worth it.
