It was surprising to me to know, by chance, about Museo Faggiano. When you were born and you live in a place, and have the occasion to know about historical evidences, you can feel very surprised and proud of your city. Museo Faggiano represents a private initiative to share a cultural place in the centre of Lecce, I recommend to... More

Fascinating story - change of pipes under the floor led to unexpected discovery in a private building in the old part of Lecce. Excavation works lated for 7 years revealing many archeological finds dating back even to 5th century BC. It was also a Templar home and home to a convent of Franciscan nuns. Nowadays the building is available for... More

This small museum exceeded our expectations. Such a great place to explore and contemplate the layers of history that one house can contain. Even our 6-year-old was intrigued. It was an added bonus that one of the owners that actually conducted the excavation was on site and happy to answer all our questions in perfect English. Super cool place to... More

The owner Started out trying to open a restaurant, ended up discovering an underground complex of rooms dating back many centuries. The Italian heritage people got to hear of it and so began a long tale. The story is as good as the place. Sweet people.

If you're in Lecce be sure to make time to visit this little jewel with a great story behind it. The family bough a house but what they found underneath is just fantastic. We had one of the family who speaks English show us round & tell us the amazing story. Don't miss it!

Visit in this little museum totally blew my mind. Artifacts and rooms from different periods, from ancient times up to XVIII century. They have paper guides in many languages, so you can walk through on your own pace and see everything. Awesome journey through time. Be sure to spend some time on the roof, great view from there!

Allow at least an hour to tour this museum in case you're greeted by family members who will treat you to new excavations and discoveries!

The last thing that you expect to discover when carrying out home maintenance are archeological remains that go back possibly two millennia !!! We were greeted by the son of the owner - who took some time to take us through the back ground of this discovery. He had personally been involved with the excavations (without the knowledge of his... More

A privately owned museum, that is both interesting and informative. 3 Euros entrance fee and each of us were given an informative guide. The family that own and run this museum, after many stops and starts, embarked on what was at the beginning just to be a renovation for a new restaurant. It was only after work had begun that... Every renovation brings surprises but none can compare to what this family found when looking to get rid of the dampness on the entry floor.
