Incredible ruins so well preserved--the Whitaker Museum is small, but filled with incredible artifacts dating back to Phoenician times. Must see--the statue, Youth of Mozia and the mask. One can walk around the island to see the excavation sites or relax under the shade of...More

We viewed the salt pans on the mainland and then took a small ferry over to the island. The museum, although fairly small, held a lot of artefacts that had been discovered on the island. An Englishman devoted his life (and money) to the archaeological...More

It's a strange feeling to hop on a boat in Sicily, traverse a shallow lagoon and enter a key outpost of the ancient Phoenicians, founded in the 8th century BC; but such is the ferment that was and is this region that trips like this...More

When we arrived on the little island we opted first to see the area around the museum and then walk down toward the Tophet burial ground and the very sacred pond area near the shore. We were fascinated by a site that was more ancient...More

The museum houses some rare finds from the Phoenician period, and the island itself is laced with paths to the ruins of the ancient town. Signage is in Italian and English; and the descriptions are very clear and detailed. Do not be put off by...More

Fascinating place, with archeological remains back to Phoenician times and a stunning setting just off the Trapani salt pans. A popular excursion for locals, probably best enjoyed with a good guidebook or a well-informed guide to bring the history alive.

Nice trip on the boat for 4 euro but then 9 euro/pp on the other side to enter the island is a little naughty. Also seen much bigger more imoressive museums for half the price.

Having just come from Ragusa and its magnificent tempels, this was a complete letdown. Don't be fooled by all the great stories about this place; it is a desolate little island with a lot of old stones with a price tag of €14,00 (€5 for...More

We went late in the day and took the ferry to Mozia. We walked around the island and visited the museum. It was beautiful.
