We drove up the cypress lined avenue to the Church of San Biagio in Montepulciano, considered one of the finest buildings of the Renaissance. As I stepped out into the brisk but now sunny morning I began to take in the expanding views from this hilltop. The church, designed by Antonio da Sangallo the Elder, with its commanding presence, is... More

There are so many wonderful churches in Italy with notable artwork that sometimes it is hard to distinguish them from each other. Such is not the case with San Biagio because the architecture is magnificent. We visited the church with the audio guide, which provided fascinating history and context for the building. From the distance, San Biagio is a picture... More

We happened to stop here as were driving by. The row of huge Cyprus trees were so impressive, it was like an invitation to come visit. There was no one else there so we wandered around and just enjoyed the serene setting. It would be great to go back and hear a service. Just recently, I noticed it while watching... More

It was a nice to see and visit. It would have been great if there was more information posted and lights on. Nice grounds and beautiful church. Abundant parking and scenery.

The city of Montelpulciano is a beauty to visit. It's also known for its wines. But visiting the temple di San Biagio was one of the highlights of this town for sure. It's large and looming, beautiful ancient architecture. Even though it's large, there is a spiritual peace when visiting the interior. Be sure to take time to walk all... More

We were going from town to town in Tuscany. Each town had a church. When we came to Multepulciano and saw this church, we had to tour it. An interesting feature is when you stand directly in the middle of the church and speak your voice travels all around the church. Another interesting fact is that the right belltower was... More

able to be seen from our accommodation and almost all vantage points on this side of Montepulciano the church dominates the side of the hill. Well maintained and in a great state of repair. This working church is fairly simple inside but memorable for its size

This was a great experience there was a wedding going on when we were there and it was beautiful to see a very old Duomo like this still in use everyday. The area and grounds are very nice.
