Rent a bike and explore. I loved looking up through the pines. Take a travel hammock and stay a while.

you can walk or bike the 6 km from Ansedonia to Porto Ercole, into a pine forest, well protected from the sun, the beach is accessible every km with a short lateral walk.

Every year when I visit Ansedonia we make a trip to the pineta between the Feniglia and The Giannella beaches. This is a protected natural park with a 8 km natural road that you can ride by bike or enjoy walking or jogging (no cars)....More

Long sandy beach, busy but not too crowded. Relaxed and free from the sun lounger brigade. Bring shade with you and be prepared for a 20 min walk with young kids from paid car park to beach through lovely pine woods resounding with crickets chirping....More

Nice walks under the pine tree woods or along the beach side. Apart from moderate crowds at the beginning (Ansedonia) it is empty as you go along. You can walk in the wood/beach all the way to Porto Ercole. Unique.

Went there on a family trip. There are many cigarette butts and wood bits everywhere in the sand. The sand has a horrible colour and the water is dirt ridden. Not worth going.
