Interesting fortress without fee. Used to be Pope's war castle defending the City. The views are just great so well worth of visit even history is not your number one thing!

Fabulous engineering feat. There are lots of stairs as you go up and down the double helix staircase but take your time and enjoy.

Absolutely incredible architecture. The helical two way staircase is amazing. It was a fairly clever chap who come up with all this.

As you go down, down, down, remember that you'll have to go back up, up, up! No worries, though: take your time! Be sure to make a wish as you toss a coin into the well.

Long way down and up. Good audioguide, would have been a waste without it. Very interesting history. Quite a feat of skill designing it. Definitely should have gotten the Or-vieto pass, would have saved money on a 3 night trip.
