Oddly enough, we were both unaware of the life and work of this creative and prolific designer/artist, who spent some of his life working in the field of design in New York City. We found this small museum captivating! Our visit left us eager to learn more about Depero and his work: graphics, tapestry; sculpture; typography and more. Well worth... More

What a great surprise! Enjoyed a lot the art of Fortunato Depero (1892 – 1960) an Italian futurist painter, writer, sculptor and graphic designer.

Along with Filippo Marinetto, Fortunato Depero might have been one of the two primary artists in the Futurist movement. The author of one of its manifestos, Depero was born in Rovereto and went on to become an internationally significant designer and artist. Futurism was one of the first modernist movements & is still an important style in Italy. The museum... More

Museum presents primarily the work of Fortunato Depero, a Futurist artist from Rovereto who also worked in New York go a while and did paintings, sculptures, advertisement etc. exhibits are very well presented in a large and well renovated house. Only thing we didn't like was that the information leaflets had run out on the top floor.

This is a cute little museum/gallery but it shouldn't take up too much of your time. It's probably best to add it on to a visit to the bigger MART gallery down the road. That said, it's lovely to see some of these Futurist works presented in this context and the space is both tranquil and easy-going.

This museum really shows off the life and works of Fortunato Depero. You can somehow sense the artist himself in that place. I never heard of him before but it didn't matter. Later on I run into his art while visiting other museums around Europe.

As a great lover of italian Futurismo, I was let down from this new (2009) settling of Depero's House. I know in the late '50s Depero started organizing this museum concerning his works, but I think now he would deserve something more involving and creative. Anyway, enjoy his advertisements and fabric coloured works, considering that not all available Depero's works... More
