If you're visiting San Remo, Bussana Vecchia is a must see spot. This medieval village was destroyed in earthquake in 19th century and today it is the International Artist Village, a small community for hippie artists from all over Europe.

A great place to explore, it really is like stepping back in time. Go early to avoid the traffic on the way up and down. Well worth the visit.

Shops are open daily and don't shut at lunch time! Probably open late afternoon.
