Small Museum
Jul 2019
You will be through this museum, stopping to look at everything, in less than 30 minutes. Probably less than that! The most interesting things were a fresco from 1568, this was once a monastery to St. Agatha. A bust of Octavian from 43 BC, found here in the 1950's. The Roman theatre is not really worth seeing. The magic was lost when we saw young teens concreting the 'ancient' seats. 4 euro to get in, just not much here, but the little they have is interesting.

I was just able to peek around the fence. Not a lot of people around that day. Good to see and then move on to something else

A lovely museum and amphitheatre in the heart of Spoleto. Worth enjoying for some time in both which are well presented and preserved.

Another great example of Roman architecture

It is possible to view this fine site from the street as part of a simple walking tour. Some of the amphitheatre would appear to be original with the damaged sections repaired so that it can still be used for public performances.

Amazing place in the heart of Spoleto

The theatre and the museum are both well worth the visit, especially on the Spoleto red card for €9.50 for 6 site visits. Be sure to walk the underground access corridors through which the public came into the theatre. The museum gives good background to understand how it looked originally.

Excellent archeological museum

Spoleto is a very old settlement which is well-illustrated with a visit to the museum located in the former monastery of Saint Agatha in the center of the city. In this nicely organized and explained collection there are many artefacts, tools and objects from the pre-Roman and Roman times, presented on the three floors of the museum. For me, it was a very interesting and informative visit that included the well-preserved Roman theater next to the museum.

Love Roman antiquities

This beautiful museum is dedicated to the Roman ruins which feature quite prominently in this city. Next to it is the modernised Roman amphitheater. A must for tourists

The Roman theatre was buried for many hundreds of years before being rediscovered . Many theatrical productions are shown here . Inside you can see many treasures found on the site . It is an interesting look into old Roman life.
