About
The undergrounds can be visited by reservation with the formula of the speleological excursion: small groups of max. 10 people are accompanied by an experienced guide. Minimum age of participants 10 years. Duration of excursions is about 1 hour. Excursions take place without the use of mountaineering equipment, they are also suitable for people who are not specifically trained but in good health and are accustomed to normal exercise. Participants should not suffer from claustrophobia (fear of closed environments). Possible pathologies or special needs must be reported to the guide before the start of the excursion. Participants must be on time at the place set for the start of the tour, properly dressed and equipped for the excursion. We recommend: comfortable footwear, comfortable and not too sophisticated clothing (it is easy to get dirty), long trousers. The guide will provide participants with flashlights and protective helmets.

Amazing

Amazing experience right off the bat: it starts with a short (but so exciting!) climb into a manhole and it continues with a hour and a half long exploration of the tunnels under Todi. Very detailed explanations and the guide is super nice and friendly. It's all no-profit, volunteer work!

Great experience!

This was a fun adventure! As you descend into the darkness through a small manhole, you end up in a man-made labyrinth of underground tunnels, through which the water constantly flows. Valerio, our guide, was very knowledgable about the tunnels. This is a great activity for when it rains (or when it's swelteringly hot). You'll feel like a real urban explorer!

Get Valerio's phone number at the tourist office on the main piazza. We called in the morning and were down in the tunnels by early afternoon. Prices are €15 per person when we took the tour. The money goes to further excavation of the tunnels, as well as making more of the labyrinth accessible to the public. Extra note: Valerio takes the necessary extra safety precautions with regards to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recommended :)!

Exceptional!

This subterranean tour of Todi is a unique way to learn this beautiful town's history, and definitely I recommend it for adventurously spirited people. Valerio is a very knowledgeable archeologist, explains thoroughly and in detail the history of these tunnels and was a terrific guide. I called him for an appointment for the tour, and he met us with helmets with headlights. I highly recommend!

Fantastic experience

Valerio toured us through the ancient tunnels below Todi. He is an archeologist and extremely knowledgeable. The historical insights he provided were fascinating. He provides helmets and head lamps. It's a bit strenuous and claustrophobic -- but if you can handle a hike and tight places -- it is a very cool tour!

What a surprise

I travelled with my eldest sister who is now 70 and this looked fun and she was up for it. It was all a bit last minute. Messaged Valerio in the morning and he agreed to meet us at 14:00 in the afternoon. We both had walking shoes and trousers but we weren't really prepared for an entry to the tunnels through a small trap door and a climb down a rickety iron ladder for about 30 steps! We wore hard hats with lights and once at the bottom had to stoop a bit and splash through muddy puddles. It was fun and Valerio did a great job explaining the reason for the work and the overall plan. At the end of the walk there are 98 steps up to just underneath the Roman Forum area. But that's the end and you have to retrace your steps, including descending the slippery stone steps. We felt like intrepid explorers and got a bit wet and dirty, but it was truly memorable and Valerio was charming, knowledgable and helpful throughout. My sister said afterwards that it was the highlight of the holiday and she never thought she still had it in her to do such exciting and slightly dangerous things. Thank you Valerio. Highly recommended
