See the Deposition from the Cross by Rosso Fiorentino. It is stunning and represents a transition to the modem style of painting in 16th century Lots of other local religious art in the gallery. The alabaster exhibition is quite good too

First of all Volterra may be one of,the most beautiful hillside towns I have ever seen. Didn't expect too much going,to this small museum. It is a combination alabaster and art museum. What a wonderful surprise! The artwork is beautifully laid out; however many pieces...More

The alabaster museum is a waste of time. The pinacoteca has a hodge podge of paintings with a couple of standout works. But enormously frustrating for the lack of labels in any language. Probably not rewarding unless you already know Tuscan Renaissance painting in some...More

One got to see the inside of a large Palace of a 15th century aristocrat. Inside the museum was a lot of Medieval Oil paintings, as well as modern top quality alabaster statues.

Was great to get away from the religious exhibitions and enjoy art fro its own sake. Was fairly quiet while we were there which was also a bonus. A hidden gem. I almost didn't want to comment in case it gets too popular.

This is the highlight of visiting San gimignano. The traipse up 220 steps is well worth the effort. Recommend you do Thi if nothing else

Of all of the 6 museums that were included as part of the Volterra Card, this was not the top of the list for a visit. To be honest, after a week in Italy, i had been totally religious-arted out and was beginning to empathise...More

Absolutely beautiful, definitely worth a trip. Walking through the gallery is absolutely breathtaking and we ate a a cute cafe very close by. While we were there the bells rang and the view of the valley was amazing.
