This is a fictive "monument" that has nothing to do with the mythical/historical Homer. Except for the view towards Naxos and Paros and the view of the interior of the island along the road, it is not worth the long drive.

We enjoyed the drive to Homers tomb and found the views and the surrounding area very beautiful. You have to park about a 10 minute walk from the actual location and the path is not suitable for wheelchairs. Well worth the visit.

... but nothing more. You can drive up to this point, at the north end of Ios, just to see the views, but the supposed tomb of Homer is nothing special.

Beautiful site - The views over the surrounding islands is breathtaking & the excuse for a little bit of historical culture was all we needed for young kids to follow !

It's a long way to see this tomb of Homer at the North end of the island... the road ends up with a dead-end roundabout, it means that you are arrived, a short walk on a rough track and you see the rest of the...More

At the end of the road there's a parking circle and a 15 minute walk up a gravely path to a hilltop overlooking the sea. With countless islands sprawled across the blue horizon Homer's grave rests in the wind. Mostly piles of rocks and stone...More

Came here as we took the wrong turning but we I was here I went anyway. Not much to see really other than a view over to Naxos.

Whether this is this place where Homer's tomb was/is nobody knows and will probably never know. But does it matter if you are on Ios and would like to have a nice ride with a lot of beautiful scenery (mountain and sea) to "Homer's tomb"...More
