On a day trip we spent several enjoyable hours meandering the rooms and spaces. A collection of 'b list' impressionists is really nice.
The walk through Agen from the Gare is also lovely.

This museum may contain works by some famous names but they are so poorly presented, it makes the experience average at best. We made a special two hour trip to Agen to see this and were disappointed. I suspect had we been staying nearer, it may have seemed marginally more worthwhile.

Having been 'Bastided' out by loads of local fab towns, we made a trip to the more earthy city life of Agen. Other reviewers have well made the point that everything is not quite A list but actually its all charming with Roman treasures, paintings, ceramics and a few ecletic items. Seeing this range of works makes you appreciate the real gems here and in other places. My group zipped through it quickly but if truth be told, I would have stayed a bit longer. Go if you're in Agen.

We stopped off and spent a couple of hours looking through to amazing regional gallery - a gallery with some exceptional artwork from the Louvre. We like paintings and the artwork on display here is brilliant without being too vast in size to make thing blur into one another. There is also plenty of other things to see and you really need to allow a couple of hours of you are to do this great regional gallery some justice.

We spent nearly 2 hours looking around the museum. It has some very interesting collections on the ground floor, as well as some minerals in the basement which were used as a prison. The rooms of art collection upstairs are well laid out. It was great to see a school party being taken round as well. The buildings are a bit of a maze and the impressionist paintings were well worth going up to the top floor to see.

Great place to spend an hour. Eclectic mix from pre-Roman to modern. Look out for the Roman alabaster angel in the cabinet by the reception desk - it's magical.

The museum itself is situated in a lovely building with lots of beautiful features. The collection itself is quite small but there is quite an interesting variety of items on display. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

The Agen Museum is set in beautiful historical buildings.
It is rather wide ranging for a small museum.
Nice sections of antiquities and porcelains.
Everything is well displayed and labeled.
Includes a number of paintings from Goya and decorative arts such as wardrobes and clocks.
Beware that it closes from 12:30PM to 1:30PM.
