We have visited many French markets over the years and this is one of the liveliest. All the local duck and goose products were well represented. We also found great fruits and vegetables especially strawberries and asparagus. The fish mongers were great. very large selections of fish and shellfish were available. The cheese sellers were very good as well offering... More

We were amazed by the huge variety of stalls and how widespread the market was - every mainstreet and every little side street were packed with stalls selling clothing, crafts, jewellery, bags, specialty food, sausages, fish, fruit and vegetables, with hardly any repetition of products. Our only disappointment was we felt there weren't enough food stalls and they weren't grouped... More

We went to the market in Perigueux a few days prior to Sarlat and felt there was no comparison. Sarlat benefits from a lovely setting and variety of stalls, but lacked the charm of Perigueux. Sarlat was also a lot more expensive. Sarlat is worth a visit, but we found the market to be unspectacular.

The market simply fills this beautiful historic town. Quite a lot of stores sell handicraft with characteristics from this region. Many nice fresh products sold directly by the farmers. It is very pleasure just to walk and enjoy the ambience.

Wonderfull market within the norrow town streets. A dazzling array of choices in cheese, food and wine. The Sarlat traditional duck products very much in evidence.

I come for years and it still amazes me, the architecture of the historic buildings are fantastic, it feels like you go back in time. Great shopping area as well

I love markets and this one might make you want to join the market lovers club. The market has just about anything you could want to buy to eat. The sausage from this region is absolutely fabulous. I made a total pig of myself sampling cheese, sausage and more from the various merchants. The stuff was so yummy, I couldn't... More

Atmospheric and interesting. Very authentic and a good way to get a feel for the area especially on market days. Quite a few cafes too

So much fun to browse the shops and booths! Quality of everything from produce to cheese to meats was top quality. You must go, and bring a big bag!

Worth the visit . Can buy all kind of local ( or less local...) products. Focus on duck and walnut. Over all prices are ok even if some are really abusing .... good visit .
